Public Outreach: First ESO/EAAE Summer School. A live link between Paranal to the European Association for Astronomy Education2 Summer School in Garching, Germany was established. This took the form of a simultaneous video link and powerpoint presentation discussing ESO facilities at the La Silla-Paranal Observatories and reviewing a selection of recent science activities performed with the Very Large Telescope, from Comets to Cosmology. The presentation, which was regarded as a highlight of the Summer School, was followed by a question-and-answer session. Summer School, Garching, Germany.

Day Operations Astronomer (Shift 31), Paranal [9 nights].
2007-07-01:
VISIR observations of main belt asteroids (Bellona, Emma, Melete, Lutetia, Diotima, Cava) under spectacularly clear, stable atmospheric conditions.
2007-06-30:
Public Outreach: The 2007 Exhibition Meeting of the British Astronomical Association (BAA)1. A live video link between Paranal and the British Astronomical Association, Exhibition Meeting, UK was established. Attendees witnessed the end-of-night operations at UT2-Kueyen, an interview with Dr Gael James (ESO Fellow) and discussed examples of very recent raw data from VISIR observations of the young star cluster in the environment of the super-massive black hole at the centre of the Milky Way, and emission lines present in VIMOS observations of a galaxy cluster.
