What do we hope to learn from multi-D simulations?

• Can we find a mechanism for brightness oscillations?

• How much of the initial fuel layer is burnt?

• What does the vertical structure of the burning layer look like?

• Are there any other multidimensional effects that have not been thought of that are important to the evolution of the burst?
