Thick Disk Imaging
What's a guy who is used to a 10m telescope do with a 100" and
40"? Some very different science, that's what. Inspired
by the concept of thick disks at high redshift and the general
lack of understanding of this stellar component locally, I decided
a survey of thick disks in a moderate sample of Southern Sky spirals
might be nice. Turns out the LCO telescopes are almost ideal for
such an undertaking. Have been granted generous allocations, now
it's time to roll up the sleaves and do the analysis.. Stay tuned.
