Perhaps you should.
Why does or should my wife (who is technically and mathematically
competent, but takes no interest in this particular topic) care about the
current earth rotation angle, so long as the clock on the wall shows a
value not too dissimilar from it?
Even though I live within metres of the Prime Meridian, clock time varies
from earth rotation angle by up to 0.3 radians. Sunset already varies from
3pm to 10pm. Solar time *DOES NOT MATTER*.
We have to go round the house adjusting clocks twice a year. Fixing *that*
problem would be of far more benefit.
Yes, astronomers need solar time as well as TAI. But astronomers (and I
used to be one professionally) are capable of coping with that. Who else
needs it?
