Hamilton Spectrograph coordinates
coordinates for the Hamilton with dewar 4
as a PDF file
This diagram is a synthesis of the contents of what should be
several separate diagrams and documents.
For reference see the
manufacturer data sheet
for the CCD in dewar 4 with the nomenclature of the amplifiers.
The engineering diagram documenting the Hamilton focal plane
should not include
-
the device name of the CCD
-
the designations of the video inputs
-
the designations of the amplifier types
-
the PANE coordinates
This is a draft. It all deserves double checking.
Please let me know if you find anything that seems awry.
The FITS coordinates can be redefined, but the current
coordinates indicate the manner in which the ucam
code writes the pixels into the FITS image array.
As of 2011-02-22 the existing ucam/xvideo coordinate
system has its origin not at the FITS array origin,
but instead at coordinate 4096,0 in this diagram,
which is the lower right corner when someone is
looking into the dewar at the CCD.
Contrary to that representation, when using the window values which
select a subregion of the CCD to be read and stored in the FITS file
the coordinate system has the same origin as the FITS image array.
